Do your teeth need a little TLC?

Our teeth are the body part that we neglect most often. It’s a little surprising actually, because almost all of us are raised to brush our teeth twice a day, every day, use mouthwash, floss . . . and yet so many of us, by the time that we get to adulthood, have left all of those good habits behind us, and decided that it is much easier to just go straight to bed after having that steak dinner with red wine than spend the two minutes taking care of our teeth. And yet the trouble is that you cannot neglect any part of your body for long without suffering the consequences, and the consequences of not looking after your teeth can not only be painful and expensive, but very obvious to anyone that you meet. After all, your smile is the first introduction that you ever make to anyone, even before you speak. The longer that you leave it, the worse it gets, and eventually for many of us in the San Diego tooth restoration servicesare the only answer – in other words, dental fillings!

You may think that you look after your teeth pretty well, but the chances are that you could definitely do more! So do your teeth need a little TLC? Answer the questions below to see whether or not you have been looking after your teeth properly – and find out what you can do to change that around before it’s too late!

  1. When was the last time that you visited the dentist?

If you can’t remember, then that is definitely bad news. You should be going to the dentist at least once a year, and the reason that in San Diego tooth restorations are going up is because so many of us leave seeing the dentist far too late, when there’s nothing left but a filling available to us. Make an annual appointment to see your dentist, and your teeth will feel the benefit!

  1. Do you know what brand of toothpaste you use?

If you don’t, you are probably not using it enough! Brushing twice a day may seem like a lot, especially if you do it for two full minutes, but why not combine it with skimming through the news or checking your emails? Then you won’t feel as though you have wasted any time, and you’ll be able to go through the day and night without any bacteria living in your mouth. It’s a win win, and you may find that you want to change toothpaste!

  1. How do you floss?

If the answer is ‘not at all’, then you’ve got a problem! Flossing removes those last stubborn bits of plaque and gunge that can sit in your teeth providing a home for bacteria, so the sooner that you remove it, the better. Make sure that you floss every evening before you go to bed, and you’ll definitely that your teeth are cleaner – and you could save yourself a trip to the hygienist!

We get it though: you have a busy life, and there are plenty of other things you need to do. There are also plenty of other body parts that you have to look after! However, by fitting a yearly visit to the dentist and a twice daily brush and floss routine into your life, a San Diego tooth restoration may not need to be in your future. Just by giving your teeth a little TLC now could save you time and money in the future, and that is the perfect reason to start brushing a little longer.
